From next January 1, citizens of 15 Latin American countries traveling to Europe must previously process a special permission, electronically, named ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System, for its acronym in English). The decision was taken by the European Union for the 26 countries that integrate the Schengen community, where the most popular tourist destinations are located (Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland, among others).
It should be noted that this new regulation applies to citizens of countries that do not require a visa to enter the EU; Those who do need it (Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic) will be exempt from the ETIAS. The processing will cost € 7 and the permit will be valid for three years, unless the validity of the passport expires before.
